Johnnette Technologies Pvt Ltd, a leading Indian developer of unmanned combat and surveillance platforms, has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Munitions India Limited (MIL) to jointly develop and integrate advanced indigenous warhead systems for loitering munitions and future unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) platforms. The agreement represents a significant milestone in strengthening India’s defence manufacturing capabilities and aligns with the national objective of building a self-reliant defence ecosystem. Through this collaboration, the two organizations will combine their respective strengths in autonomous aerial systems and advanced munitions technologies to create next-generation precision-strike solutions designed and manufactured in India.

Under the MoU, MIL will support the integration of advanced indigenous payloads and warheads into Johnnette Technologies’ JM-series loitering munitions as well as upcoming UCAV programmes currently under development. The partnership is expected to accelerate the availability of fully indigenous weapon systems capable of meeting the evolving operational requirements of the Indian Armed Forces.

The collaboration brings together Johnnette Technologies’ expertise in unmanned aviation, autonomous flight control and mission systems with MIL’s extensive experience in ammunition, explosives and ordnance manufacturing. By leveraging these complementary capabilities, both organizations aim to establish a robust domestic supply chain for precision-guided aerial munitions.

The agreement focuses on several strategic areas, including the development of indigenous lethal payloads for tactical drone platforms, enhancement of precision engagement capabilities and reduction of dependence on imported defence components. The initiative is also expected to support technology development, industrial collaboration and long-term capability building within India’s defence sector.

Commenting on the development, John Livingstone, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Johnnette Technologies, said the partnership marks an important step toward delivering advanced mission-ready combat solutions developed entirely within the country. He emphasized that indigenous innovation and manufacturing will play a central role in shaping the future of military aviation and autonomous warfare technologies.

Founded in 2014, Johnnette Technologies has emerged as a key player in India’s unmanned systems industry. The company has developed a portfolio of tactical UAVs, intelligence-surveillance-reconnaissance platforms and loitering munitions. Its JM-1 loitering munition and JF-2 ISR drone systems have been supplied to the Indian Army under emergency procurement programmes.

Munitions India Limited, a Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, remains one of the country’s foremost manufacturers of ammunition, explosives and ordnance systems, supporting the operational readiness of India’s armed forces through indigenous production capabilities.
