LANXESS and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly strengthen the availability and market reach of advanced aviation and industrial lubricants across India and SAARC countries. The strategic collaboration aims to combine LANXESS’ global expertise in high-performance lubricant technologies with HPCL’s extensive market presence and distribution network to support growing demand across aviation, industrial, and critical infrastructure sectors.
Under the agreement, both companies will jointly explore short-, medium-, and long-term business opportunities focused on marketing, distribution, and business development for premium lubricant solutions. The partnership will enable broader access to LANXESS-branded lubricants across India and neighbouring SAARC markets, particularly in high-performance and critical industrial applications requiring advanced lubrication technologies.
Industry experts note that India’s aviation and industrial sectors are witnessing rapid expansion driven by infrastructure development, industrial modernization, rising manufacturing activity, and increasing demand for operational efficiency and equipment reliability. The collaboration is expected to support these sectors by improving the availability of technologically advanced lubricant products designed to enhance performance, reduce maintenance requirements, and improve operational life cycles.
Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Vice President and Global Head of the Business Unit Lubricant Additives at LANXESS, said the partnership marks an important step in the company’s growth strategy in India. He stated that the collaboration with HPCL will help establish new benchmarks for quality, performance, and market accessibility while accelerating business growth in India’s rapidly expanding aviation and industrial markets.
Srinivas Ch, Executive Director – Lubes at HPCL, said the partnership aligns with the company’s objective of delivering advanced lubricant technologies to Indian customers across critical industries. He added that the collaboration will leverage LANXESS’ technology expertise alongside HPCL’s strong domestic distribution network to support efficiency and performance improvements for industrial and aviation customers.
