Hilti India has partnered with Delhi Technological University (DTU) to set up an industry-supported laboratory aimed at strengthening collaboration between academia and industry. The initiative is designed to enhance technical capabilities among engineering students while promoting practical learning aligned with modern construction practices.

The laboratory has been developed as part of a broader effort to deepen understanding of fastening technologies and encourage knowledge exchange through structured training sessions and hands-on experience. The initiative reflects a shared focus on connecting academic learning with real-world applications and building a skilled engineering workforce.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior leadership from DTU, including the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, and faculty representatives. The discussions highlighted the importance of applied research and industry partnerships in shaping future-ready engineers and advancing technical education.

The facility has been designed to offer a step-by-step learning experience, covering theoretical concepts, design methodologies, and practical implementation. Students will gain exposure to technical reference materials related to steel-to-concrete and concrete-to-concrete connections, followed by training in design and analysis using specialised software tools. The program also includes hands-on demonstrations with industry-relevant equipment, allowing students to apply their knowledge in practical scenarios.

A key focus of the laboratory is on post-installed fastening technologies, particularly for applications such as retrofitting and structural strengthening. This area is increasingly relevant in modern construction, where the need for upgrading existing infrastructure is growing. By aligning academic training with industry requirements, the initiative aims to prepare students for real-world challenges in construction projects.

Jayant Kumar, General Manager and Managing Director, Hilti India, said the collaboration highlights the importance of integrating practical exposure into engineering education. He noted that providing students with access to modern construction technologies will help them develop the skills required to deliver higher standards of safety, precision, and efficiency in their future roles.

The initiative also reflects Hilti India’s continued engagement with educational institutions across the country. Through such collaborations, the company seeks to contribute to the development of a skilled talent pool while supporting innovation and best practices in construction.

Hilti Group, headquartered in Schaan, Liechtenstein, is a global provider of tools, fastening systems, and software solutions for the construction industry. With operations in over 120 countries, the company focuses on innovation, quality, and close customer engagement, while supporting safer and more efficient construction processes worldwide.
