Ashok Leyland has announced its vehicle sales performance for April 2026, reporting a 14% year-on-year increase in domestic volumes. The company sold 14,242 units during the month, compared with 12,509 units in April 2025, reflecting sustained demand across key segments.

The growth was primarily led by strong momentum in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) category, alongside steady gains in medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) trucks. These gains helped offset a decline in bus sales during the period.

In the domestic market, M&HCV truck sales rose 15% to 6,814 units, up from 5,915 units in the corresponding month last year. However, bus volumes within the same category declined by 22% to 1,163 units. Despite this drop, overall M&HCV sales recorded an 8% increase, reaching 7,977 units.

The LCV segment emerged as the primary growth driver, registering a 23% increase to 6,265 units compared with 5,103 units in April 2025. The segment’s strong performance reflects continued demand for last-mile and intra-city transport solutions, contributing significantly to the company’s overall domestic sales growth.

Including exports, total vehicle sales for April 2026 stood at 14,646 units, representing a 9% increase from 13,421 units in the same period last year. Growth in total volumes was again supported by trucks and LCVs. M&HCV truck sales, including exports, rose 15% to 7,007 units, while LCV sales increased 16% to 6,344 units.

The bus segment, however, continued to face challenges across both domestic and international markets. Combined bus sales declined by 30% year-on-year to 1,295 units, reflecting softer demand conditions in this category. As a result, total M&HCV sales, including exports, recorded a modest growth of 4%, reaching 8,302 units.

The company’s April performance highlights a mixed trend across its portfolio. Strong growth in goods carrier segments, particularly LCVs and trucks, has driven overall volume expansion, while the bus segment remains under pressure.

Ashok Leyland continues to focus on strengthening its position in high-growth segments, supported by a diversified product portfolio and expanding market presence. The company remains committed to delivering reliable and efficient mobility solutions while adapting to evolving demand patterns in both domestic and export markets.
